It’s not easy to get a Metal Black E50. Lots of people write in and ask where to buy one. Unfortunately there are only a few on-line stores which offer it, most of them located in Europe. It looks like the metal black is not meant for the U.S. market at all.
If you can’t live without the metal black beauty there is a relatively simple way to make one. You’ll need one Nokia E50, front and back cover, a keypad and a tiny bit of patience. Doug has sent me a few photos of his custom made Nokia E50 Metal Black. It’s a work in progress, he is waiting for a new black keypad to arrive but so far it looks good. Check it out:

The only missing part (except of the keypad which is on its way) is the bottom silver piece. It doesn’t come with the cover so you’ll have to use the old one. If anyone knows where to get the black bottom please let us know.
Where to get the parts?
You can buy these parts on the internet. Here are a few useful links (thanks Doug):

Wow! That looks excellent! I didn’t know that the E50 front cover was replaceable. The site that you linked to has replacement parts for the entire phone.
vester, I haven’t opened the case myself but I’ll try to get some basic guide for you. If/when I get it it will be published here on this blog.
Jaro has asked if I would do a step by step on the removal and replacement of the face cover and keypad and such. I’ll put something together with some photo’s…..
