Nokia Stereo Headset

Jaro 4. January 2007 :: , , , ,

Most of the Nokia smartphones (including the E50) come with a single earpiece. Listening to music that way is quite distracting. Kenneth has recently asked (thanks for the question, Kenneth):

Is it true that we cannot use headset with dual ear piece on the E50? The packing came with headset with a single earpiece! I tried other stereo headsets and it still plays on only one earpiece.

The answer is Yes, it is possible to listen to music on the E50 with stereo headphones. Apparently you’ll need the correct headset compatible with the E50. There are two ways how to go about it:

Nokia Audio Headset

1. Nokia Stereo Headset most of these headsets claim the compatibility with all Nokia phones so my guess is that it will work on the E50 too; I would appreciate if anyone with experience could let us know

Nokia Audio Adapter

2. Nokia Audio Adapter – I found this little inexpensive adapter only recently; it allows you to plug in your headphones with the standard 3.5mm plug; there are different types of this adapter for different Nokia phones; the one I linked to is compatible with Nokia E50

    I bought the Nokia audio adapter and Koss earbuds to go with it. This solution worked fine, and a big advantage was that the volume and bass were much better than from the Nokia-supplied single earbud.

    I bought a cheap 3.5mm adapter on ebay for a couple bucks. It was pretty crappy, as it started to come apart, etc. Some duct tape helped a little. The biggest problem I have, is that there are these really loud “popping” sounds when you switch between songs. Very very distracting, and it actually hurts your ears.
