Hi guys, I’m back from holidays which means that Nokia E50 blog will get back on track. In the last article I promised to announce some changes that are going to happen here. But before I implement them I’d like to ask you for an opinion. First, I’d like to know what’s your take on message boards.
For a few months I’ve been receiving emails from people asking questions regarding E50. Sometimes I can give an answer right away, sometimes I point them to an existing article on my blog or some other website but in most cases I don’t reply because answer requires more time and the emails keep piling up in my inbox.
And this is where messageboard comes into play. It seems like a good solution for everyone involved. People who ask will get answers (I know there is a lot of knowledgeable folks hanging around here) and it will save me some time as well. And all of us will have a space where to discuss about our phones, software, upgrades etc.
I know that running a messageboard is not easy. I was involved with 2 messageboards in the past so I know what I’m talking about. I’m mostly afraid of spam that many other messageboards are fighting with. There will be also need for a moderator. In the beginning I could moderate it myself but later on I’ll need some help.
So what do you guys think, do we need a messageboard here on the Nokia E50 blog? Please let me know by voting in the poll bellow.
Jaro, I am not a frequent visitor but I do come to your site every now and then to see what new is happening with the E50. One thing that I think would be helpful is if the comments section is not closed after a period of time. I have come across postings where I have a related question but can’t ask it because the comments are closed. Is there a reason that you feel the need to do this? The messageboard is a good idea and probably will resolve the issue. BTW, great work on the website.
Hi JP, thanks for stopping by and thanks for taking time to write a short feedback.
The comments are closed automatically after certain period of time. This is done due to the spam attacks. Spammers usually target older articles in hope no one will notice that they inserted spam links in the comments.
Another reason is that not that many people follow older posts so people usually don’t get answers anyway. I hope messageboard will resolve this.
