Your Most Favourite Applications

Jaro 5. November 2007 :: ,

Some time ago I asked you What’s your favourite S60 application?. The response was amazing, you mentioned a total of 53 applications! I collected the data and sorted them. The result is a list of the most popular applications voted by you – the readers. I hope this list will help you to find some new interesting applications.

Three Most Popular Applications

1. Opera Mini – this is an absolute winner. Opera Mini is a web browser which takes different approach in displaying websites. When you visit a website via Opera Mini it is first run through the Opera servers and only then is displayed on your phone. The reason for that is that Opera optimizes the website before displaying it.

2. Handy Clock – powerful world clock and time management application. Handy Clock contains lots of useful features including alarm, timer, world clock, stopwatch, time log and a very interesting day-night map.

3. Profimail – ProfiMail is a powerful e-mail client for mobile devices. It allows you to read your mail on go, and send text with attachments directly from your device. Send photos, recorded sound or simply text messages to friends, from anywhere. Through your mobile Internet connection. Simple.

Birthday Reminder

Jaro 10. September 2007 :: , ,

Have you ever forgotten your mum’s or friend’s birthday? Happens to me quite often. I decided to do something about it so I went out to the internet wild and looked for an application which would do just that – remind me about birthday of my friends and relatives.

I found a few apps but the one that stood out from crowd was Best Birthday from SmartphoneWare. It offers lots of functions but the only one I was looking for was a possibility to easily add a reminder to every contact in my phonebook. With Best Birthday it’s a matter of a couple of key presses.

First, you have to define each person’s birthday in your phonebook. After you launch Best Birthday, it will load all your contacts. Mark them all and add a reminder via options menu. You can define how many days before the actual birthday you want to be reminded, at what time of a day and you can even turn on the alarm. The reminder will appear on your idle screen just like a calendar entry.

Best Birthday

SmartphoneWare lets you try this application for 15 days for free. If you find it useful it’s only $9.95 to buy. I really recommend to check it out. It’s my best spent 10 bucks on a phone application after Handy Alarm.

Screenshot application now Symbian Signed

Designed for S60 devices

A very popular application for the S60 devices – Screenshot – has now the Symbian Signed mark on it. Congratulations to Antony Pranata who is the author of this piece of software. I use his application almost on a daily basis and this blog wouldn’t be so interesting without it.

For all of you who want to go and download the latest version I would suggest wait for some time. Antony just discovered a little bug and will be releasing a new version soon. As he says it will take another 2-3 weeks for this new version to be signed again. And what does ‘Symbian Signed’ mean for us, users?

If an application is Symbian Signed, it has successfully met the criteria defined in the Symbian Signed Test Criteria. The Test Criteria are designed to validate that an application behaves properly on the specified Symbian OS phone or phones, for example handling low memory correctly or informing the user that a billable event is about to take place.
