Rescue your dead phone

I came across a good tip over at Risotto’s weblog which I thought might be useful also for owners of the Nokia E50. If your phone dies and nothing helps try the old trick – format your phone by pressing a combination of 3 keys – green key, star key and key number 3. It should work on all S60 devices but I haven’t tried it on my Nokia E50 yet. Be aware that after this you will lose all your data (and that’s why you should do a regular backup).
Since the E61 powers up immediately when you insert the battery you will have to push those three keys before you insert the battery. As soon the battery is inserted to Nokia logo will show up for a while. You must hold the buttons until the pin code entry comes up. While you hold the keys the unit will reformat its flash memory and revert to a factory default state.
