Protect Your Data With Remote Lock

There is not much you can do once your mobile phone is stolen or lost. You most likely won’t get it back but you can still protect the data. There is a useful feature in many Nokia phones that very few people take advantage of. It’s called Remote Lock and you can use it to remotely lock your phone and memory card. That way you can prevent others from seeing the data you have saved.
How does the Remote Lock work?
First you have to activate it in Settings – Security – Phone and SIM. Change the value of Allow remote lock from No to Yes and you will be asked to enter the New remote lock message. It must be at least 5 characters long and avoid using any special characters. Verify the new message and you will be asked to enter your lock code. The default lock code is 12345 unless you changed it. Now you are all set up.

It’s important to note that the New remote lock message will be also used as a password for your memory card.
If you want to remotely lock your mobile phone simply send an SMS to your phone number with the Remote lock message in the body. When the message is received your phone will be immediately locked and the lock code will be used as a password for your memory card. Now all your data is safe, the phone is locked and if the memory card is inserted in any other phone it will ask for a password.
